Bowl For Kids’ Sake, presented by EdFinancial Services, is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ signature fundraising and awareness event. Participants from Knoxville, Maryville, Oak Ridge and Tri-Cities hit the lanes, had fun and raised money, with a total of more than 900 bowlers contributing to this year’s success. All funds raised by bowlers directly benefit the programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee.

“We are thrilled and grateful for the continued support from this community for Bowl For Kids’ Sake, which raised over $180,000 this year,” said Myra Yeatman, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee. “Bowl For Kids’ Sake helps us continue to put the guidance, friendship and fun of mentors in the lives of children, and through the support of East Tennesseans we will be able to match an additional 180 area children with mentors,” Yeatman added.

EdFinancial Services is a national student loan provider headquartered in Knoxville and is the presenting sponsor of Bowl For Kids’ Sake. Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee has been changing the community through the power of one-to-one mentoring since 1970. Mentored children have a better chance of succeeding in school, are less likely to use drugs or violence and are better able to get along with family and friends.

Build company morale, cultivate teamwork and help local children all at the same time. Hundreds of East Tennesseans participate with their co-workers in Bowl for Kids’ Sake to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters. It’s a FUNTASTIC way to engage team members and to impact hundreds of children in our community.

 To Participate

• Find a team captain and form a team of 2-4 people
• Pick a team name. Be creative – you could win a prize.
• Register each of your teammates by going to BowlForKidsTODAY.org or by calling (865) 523-2179.
• Once your team is registered you can make your reservation for the day, hour and location you would like to bowl (see options below).
• Start collecting donations that will help us provide children with a Big Brother or Sister. You can request donations using the online fundraising systemor the old fashioned way – with a pledge sheet and a pen.
  • Each team member should raise at least $50 and prize levels go up to $1,000. 
• Teams win prizes for best dressed, best team name & most spirited each hour; a well-timed gutter ball may even get you a prize!
• We provide the lanes, shoes and lots of FUN!

Donations from Bowl for Kids’ Sake will provide area children with a mentor. Having a mentor creates a positive impact on the life of each child, as well as the community. Children who have a Big Brother or Big Sister are less likely to skip school and less likely to use illegal substances. They become more confident in school and get along better with others.

Last year, we provided 770 children with a mentor. This year, we expect to provide for more than 1,200 children. Every dollar counts, and your participation in Bowl for Kids’ Sake matters.
